The United Kingdom (UK) has worlds most prestigious, top ranked universities. UK is one of the most popular study abroad destination among the students from all over the world. United Kingdom is made up of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland & Wales. Each nation has their own language, traditions, Cuisine, and education.

Studying in England is a certain way to make a positive step towards your prospective career in any field.

In Northern Ireland, two university colleges and three universities provide a broad range of vocational and academic qualifications.

The origins of the Scotland’s four “ancient universities” whose origins can be traced back earlier than the 1600s. There are fifteen universities and three higher education institutes in Scotland.

Wales has eight universities offering three years undergraduate and one-year postgraduate degrees. Higher education in Wales began in 1822. Welsh universities are also modern and innovative.

Tuition Fees

In England, European Union students are required to pay the same fees as (local). Local students’ tuition fees in England are capped at £9,250 per year with majority of institutions charging the full amount.

International students (non-EU/EEA nationals) pay the same international fees across the whole UK. Undergraduate degree in the science or engineering degree ranges from £10,000 to £20,000, and clinical degrees up to £38,000, a humanities or social sciences from £10,000 to £17,000.

Local students’ tuition fees in Northern Ireland are capped at £4,160 per year. European Union students are required to pay the same fees as Northern Irish students. International students pay the same international fees across the whole UK (see above).

In Scotland, Student Awards Agency for Scotland (SAAS) pays the tuition fees for the local and European Union students. International students pay the same international fees across the whole UK (see above).

In Wales, tuition fees at universities can be lower that the other universities in the UK. For an undergraduate course, European Union and international students alike pay between £12,000 to £22,000 per annum. For postgraduate international students, fees are between £12,500 to £29,000 per annum.

Undergraduate degrees are only three years and masters are just one year at the universities in Wales.

Grants & Scholarships

Many institutions in UK offer their own scholarship and funding schemes. There are three scholarships available specifically for international students to study in the UK:

- - Commonwealth Scholarships & Fellowships. Over 900 scholarships and fellowships are available each year for students of Commonwealth countries.
  - Chevening Scholarships. These scholarships are available for eligible students to fund one year master’s degree, at the institution and programs partnering with Chevening Scholarships. To be eligible student has to demonstrate decision-making and leadership skills across a range of areas, i.e. academia, politics, business and media.
  - Marshall Scholarships for American Students. Marshall Scholarships are offered to 40 students from the US. To qualify for Marshall Scholarships, student must have minimum GPA of 3.7 in the past three years.
